The TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD Golf Driver

Taylormade Stealth 2 HD Driver

Groundbreaking Carbonwood with Draw bias

Taylormade have always been at the forefront of research and development. Titanium has been the most used material for the past 20 years in golf drivers, however Titanium has its limits. Taylormade therefore pushed the boundaries to begin the new Carbonwood Age. Taylormade have built upon the massive success of the original Stealth to produce the new Taylormade Stealth 2 HD driver which has been designed with more carbon and more FARGIVENESS.

The Taylormade Stealth 2 HD driver stands for "High Draw" and is the draw bias model in the Stealth 2 family. This means it is perfect for golfers who struggle with a slice or a left to right shaped shot. The Stealth 2 HD driver will provide a corrective flight so you can hit more fairways.

Specifications:

Loft Options: The Taylormade Stealth 2 HD Driver is available in 3 different lofts; 9 degree, 10.5 degree and 12 degree.

Shaft Options: Fujikura Speeder NX Red Shaft (60 Stiff, 50 Regular and 50 Senior (A))

Taylormade have fitted the Stealth 2 HD driver with the Fujikura Speeder NX red shaft. This shaft is a high launching shaft due to its lightweight design.

Shaft Length: Standard length is 45.5 inches.

Head Size: 460cc

Grip: Taylormade Stealth 2 HD driver is fitted with a Golf Pride Z-Grip Plus2 Black/Red Grip

Description:

In most standard draw bias drivers, a corrective flight is achieved whilst sacrificing forgiveness. This is because when you move weight closer to the heel, the MOI is reduced. Taylormade however have achieved a High Draw design (HD) whilst increasing the MOI to maximise forgiveness. This is achieved by utilising weight savings from the full body carbon structure and redistributing the weight towards the heel of the club which promotes a draw whilst still creating the highest MOI in the Stealth 2 family.

The Taylormade Stealth 2 Driver features an advanced version of the Inverted Cone Technology (ICT). The ICT has boosted performance for off centre strikes and therefore improved forgiveness. The face is just 24 grams in weight in comparison to 26 grams in the original Stealth driver, this allows Taylormade to expand the COR area for a larger sweetspot and improved ball speeds and forgiveness across the whole face.

Taylormade have also incorporated a nanotexture cover for the 60 layer carbon twist face. This innovative technology has enabled Taylormade to optimise friction on the face to provide the perfect launch and spin rates in all playing conditions.

Aerodynamics remains integral to increase swing speeds and therefore ball speeds and distance. Taylormade utilise the Asymmetric Inertia Generator to create advanced aerodynamics during the downswing. This will improve swing speeds for golfers at every level. The head is also fitted with a 30 gram rear weight to optimise MOI and forgiveness. The standard Stealth 2 model is fitted with a 25 gram rear weight which makes the Stealth 2 HD the most forgiving driver in the family.

Description

Taylormade Stealth 2 HD Golf Driver Features:

High Draw Design with Forgiveness:

The Taylormade Stealth 2 HD driver has a full carbon body, this means they have been able to utilise the weight savings to shift some weight towards the heel of the driver in order to promote a draw. This makes it perfect for the golfer who has trouble with a slice or a left to right shot shape. Whilst in most standard draw bias drivers promoting a corrective flight is at the detriment of forgiveness as the MOI is reduced. However, due to weight redistribution and a 30 gram back weight the Stealth 2 HD driver has the highest MOI in the Stealth 2 family.

60 X Layer Carbon Face:

60 layers of Carbon have been strategically constructed to provide optimal energy transfer to maximise ball speeds and therefore distance. Taylormade have also incorporated an advanced version of ICT (Inverted Cone Technology) in order to improve the ball speeds on off centre strikes. This combined with an expanded sweetspot makes the Stealth 2 HD Driver extremely forgiving.

Asymmetric Inertia Generator:

The inertia generator is vital to the refined aerodynamic properties of the Stealth 2 HD driver. It results in a fast head shape which maximises swing speeds on the downswing which will lead to greater ball speeds and therefore distance. Taylormade also utilise a 30 gram back weight to increase MOI and optimise forgiveness.

Thru-Slot Speed Pocket:

A speed pocket located on the base of the head allows the face to flex at the bottom to maximise forgiveness on low face strikes.

Carbon Reinforced Composite Ring:

Taylormade have introduced a Carbon Reinforced Composite Ring in order to strengthen the head and unite the driver into a singular force. The carbon construction frees up additional mass which can be redistributed to deliver greater forgiveness.

Nanotexture Cover:

Revolutionary nanotexture technology has been used to encase the 60 layers Carbon twist face. The nanotexture cover allows Taylormade to fine tune the launch and spin rates to optimise total distance regardless of playing conditions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between the Taylormade Stealth 2 HD Driver and Taylormade Stealth 2 Driver?

Taylormade Stealth 2 HD stands for "High Draw", this means it has a draw bias and a high launch. The standard Stealth 2 however has a neutral flight bias and a mid to high launch. The Stealth 2 HD will therefore be more suitable for a golfer who struggles to get the ball launching high with their driver and also a golfer who struggles with a left to right shot shape or a slice.

What is the difference between The Fujikura Speeder NX Red and Fujikura Ventus Red TR 50 shaft?

The Fujikura Speeder NX Red shaft is the standard shaft offering in the Stealth 2 HD driver, this is because Taylormade wanted the driver to be as forgiving as possible. The Speeder NX Red shaft is a High launch shaft in comparison to a Mid to High launch in the Ventus Red TR 50 shaft.

Why is the Taylormade Stealth 2 HD Driver Carbon and not titanium?

Over the past 20 years, golf drivers have been mainly constructed with Titanium. Taylormade were keen ot push the boundaries in order to produce a driver which goes further with more forgiveness. Taylormade found titanium had its limits and therefore utilised carbon to optimise energy transfer at impact to maximise ball speeds and therefore distance. Carbon is also much lighter than titanium which has also enabled Taylormade to redistribute weight to make the Stealth 2 HD incredibly forgiving.

What handicap range is the Taylormade Stealth 2 HD Driver for?

The Taylormade Stealth 2 HD driver is designed to be the most forgiving driver in the Stealth 2 family. This means it is predominantely designed for mid-high handicap golfers. The Stealth 2 HD has been designed with more weight in the heel in order to promote a draw bias, so it would be suitable for golfers who struggle with a slice or a left to right shot shape.
