The Ping G430 irons are all about distance and forgiveness with the new multi-material PurFlex cavity badge, an innovation with seven flex zones made to increase ball speeds by allowing more free bending across the face. The badge, in combination with a lower centre of gravity, produce a solid feel and pleasing sound. Ping have also utilised Hyper 17-4 stainless steel on the clubface and custom engineered lofts to aid with increased ball speeds up to 2 mph without compromising on forgiveness. The stronger lofts throughout the set ensure better gapping with the addition of a 41 degree PW. Additional matching Ping wedges can be added up to 58 degrees. The overall shape has been refined with a shorter hosel to lower the CG and creates a more compact and clean look. Additionally, a 1 degree increase of bounce throughout the set contributes to clean turf interaction and better strikes, while the Hydropearl 2.0 finish produces consistent performance on wet and dry grass.
Specifications:
Loft Options:
The G430 irons are available in a choice of loft options - a stronger 'power spec' option if you want to maximise distance and keep spin and trajectory down, or a weaker 'retro spec' option to produce higher launching, higher spinning shots that prioritise control and stopping power on approach shots.
Shaft Options:
The Ping G430 steel shaft irons come fitted as standard with the Ping AWT 2.0 shaft but are available in a wide range of built to order shafts.
*Shaft weights listed are based on the trimmed length of a 7 iron.
Grip Options:
The Ping G430 range comes fitted with the Golf Pride 360 Tour Velvet as standard and is available in a range of sizes to fit every golfer. The Golf Pride 360 Tour Velvet Cord grip, the most widely used golf grip on the Tour, is also available for golfers who prefer a firmer feel, rougher texture and all weather performance.
What handicap range are the G430 irons designed for?
The Ping G430 irons are a great iron set for almost any golfer due to their impressive forgiveness and distance but are aimed at the mid to high handicapper. They feature stronger lofts compared to previous models, giving golfers a slightly lower, penetrating ball flight, making them extremely easy to control distance and accuracy.
What set combination should I use?
The lofts of the G430 irons are slightly stronger than the previous G425 model, from 1° in the 6 and 7 irons to 3.5° in the PW. For golfers who prefer to hit full shots with their wedges and therefore need more wedges in their bag, they may benefit from playing the 6-PW set with the addition of three or four additional wedges. On the other hand, for golfers who have a favourite wedge or may use one wedge for the majority of their shots around the green, it may not be necessary to have more than two wedges and may benefit more by playing the 5-PW set with the addition of the 50° and 58°.
Can the G430 irons be adjusted?
Ping offer a large selection of custom options, including loft, lie and shaft length as well as a selection of custom shaft and grip options, but unlike the G430 woods which have an adjustable hosel, once the irons have been built they cannot be adjusted.
