Motocaddy Buying Guide 2023

Motocaddy Buying Guide 2023

Shop Motocaddy electric Trolleys

You have decided to purchase a Motocaddy trolley - and why not, they are one of only 2 dominant brands for electric trolleys in Europe and they have different models to suit every golfer's requirements. They are exceptionally reliable with excellent build quality and are very easy to use. The latest range offers a full 2 year warranty with the option to extend the lithium battery warranty to a full 5 years simply by registering your purchase upon receipt.

But with eight popular models to choose from, which is the best Motocaddy for you? We’ve created this easy to use buyer's guide to help you make a more informed decision.

1) Choose from the S Series range or the more compact M series

Should space not be an issue to you for storage or transporting in the car then the S series may be the better choice, it is quicker and easier to set up and offer a slightly more sturdy frame as it only folds in the centre. The S1 is also slightly lighter than its M counterparts.

The M series range offers a much more compact alternative. Length when folded is under 50cm compared to 85cm for the standard S1 frame. A quick and easy folding system can be mastered easily to help get on your way quickly and a carrying handle at the top makes life easy for getting around. A handy flip stand allows the trolley to stand upright when folded to save space.

The new S5 GPS also boasts the quickest-ever 1-step folding system making it perfect for storage and transporting in small boots.

2) Decide on the features you require

Do you want the simplest, easiest controls? then opt for the S1 or the M1, alternatively look at some of the other models which can offer some very cool features that can make your game of golf more enjoyable.

Here are some features you might want included that come in various models as shown below:

DISTANCE FUNCTION - this allows you to send the trolley off for a set distance useful to send it up the fairway or to the next tee etc.

USB CHARGING PORT - Integrated into the handle on some models to charge your phone or GPS device as you play

BATTERY METER - The advanced models have a full colour battery life indicator to show how much power left in your battery

DISTANCE MEASUREMENT - Display can show how far you have walked to a shot, the whole round or the life of the trolley

ROUND TIMER - Times your round and can also offer a 5 minute lost ball timer

GPS YARDAGES - The M5 and M7 GPS shows on its handle display how far to the front, middle and back through a free smartphone app

SMARTPHONE NOTIFICATIONS - The S5 GPS, M5, M7 GPS and M Tech’s display can also show call, text and email alerts so you can discreetly stay in touch

DHC (Downhill Control) - This controls the trolley on steep slopes so it will not run away from you, also has a Parking brake - great for hilly courses

REMOTE CONTROL - Available on the M7 a pocket sized remote allows you to control the trolley from a distance

3) Decide on the battery power you need

The 18 hole lithium battery is ample for any course with a lot of power to spare. Lithium is far more powerful and reliable than old style lead acid batteries and we often hear of customers getting 27 holes out of a single charge! There is no need to upgrade to an extended battery just to make sure you can do 18 as was sometimes the thinking with the old lead batteries. If you are likely to play 2 rounds in a day then consider an upgrade to the extended range.

4) Finally consider what accessories would come in handy.

Umbrella holder is a must and we supply this free with every trolley however you might wish to add a travel bag which is a nylon zip up case to keep your boot clean and make transportation easier. Scorecard holder and drinks holders can be useful add ons too. The accessory station will be required to add any accessory to your trolley - it attaches to the handle with a section to all 1 or all the accessories available.

Adding a Motocaddy bag to your order is a real bonus thanks to their innovative easilock system which has 2 metal pins on the base of the bag that securely lock onto the trolley - this allows you to remove the bottom strap all together and the bag cannot twist during your round.

Here are some more details on the various models available:

Motocaddy S1

The Motocaddy S1 is the entry-level Motocaddy golf trolley, but this is no bare-bones model. It comes packed with a host of features normally found on more expensive models such as adjustable distance control, a nine-speed motor and onboard charging.

Like all powered Motocaddy models the S1 is built on a lightweight QUICK FOLD aluminium chassis. This is extremely strong and provides good stability for your clubs, even on uneven courses.

Motocaddy M1

The Motocaddy M1 is designed to be a more compact version of the popular S1 model. It comes with a SlimFold frame that folds neatly away to a compact size, allowing it to fit into the smallest of car boots.  It’s the entry level in the M range with the most straightforward controls and it comes in a choice of 18 or extended range battery and in a smart gunmetal finish. The M1 also boasts a power upgrade over the S1, coming with a 230W nine-speed motor as standard. All this makes the M1 a popular choice for golfers who like to do a quick round after work or during their lunch break.

Also available in a DHC model (Downhill control) with parking brake

Motocaddy M3 GPS

The Motocaddy M3 is the first model in the range to offer GPS. This is viewed on a beautiful 2.8” LCD touchscreen display that is built into the handle. The system is incredibly easy to use and it can be easily paired with your smartphone for notifications and updates.

The M3 comes with the same SlimFold lightweight aluminium frame as used on the M1, plus it utilizes the same whisper-quiet 230w nine-speed motor, that makes short work of uneven ground.

Also available in a DHC model (Downhill control) with parking brake

Motocaddy M5 GPS

The popular M5 model is essentially the same frame and motor setup as the M3. But it uses an updated version of the Motocaddy GPS.

This is accessed via a larger 3.5” LCD screen built into the handle. The software has also been upgraded allowing players to set the pin position to achieve more accurate yardage. The system also includes preloaded maps of more than 40,000 courses.

Motocaddy M7 Remote

The Motocaddy M7 Remote is one of our favourite motorised trolleys. This feature-packed model includes an easy to use remote that allows you to control the caddy remotely from a distance of up to 50 meters.

This time-saving system is literally like having your personal caddy with you on the course. While it won’t help you choose the right clubs, it will save you a lot of time going backwards and forwards.

The M7 also comes with Downhill Control (DHC) as standard and features a wheel at the rear to improve stability. The two driven wheels also feature a special anti-skid tyre that makes easy work of all turf conditions.

The standard M7 doesn't come with GPS, like the M3 and M5. The idea is that this remote-controlled trolley will be moved out of the way when playing. Most M7 owners use an app on their smartphones to achieve accurate yardages.

The M7 also comes with two powerful 230w motors as standard. So this trolley is capable of handling all types of courses no matter the terrain or weather.
