Skycaddie - The Line Up
>Skycaddie SGX

This is the best seller in Skycaddies range and its packed full of features. It is an excellent all round rangefinder and we would recommend this to anyone serious about their golf in particular golfers who tend to play less familiar courses regularly.

The Skycaddie SGX offers an in depth view of the green which goes above and beyond simply showing yardages to the front middle and back. The display is interactive which means that you can simply move a crosshair around the screen to get a pinpoint yardage to that point. This means that if you know where the pin is or even have a rough idea you can get the yardage to be more precise, the display also shows if there is any severe slopes in the green which is handy to get yardages to get to the top tier etc.

The green screen also shows greenside bunkers close up so again by moving the crosshair you can find out exactly how fair to carry that troublesome bunker protecting the green.

Skycaddie are also the only brand to use intelligreen technology this means that the yardages to the front, middle and back will be relevant to where you are standing, ie if you are playing from the wrong fairway the side of the green becomes the front from your angle of approach.

Skycaddie use the highest grade micro chip that is accurate to within 1 yard and this combined with their method of mapping courses means that their rangefinders are the most accurate out there.

Holevue is an invaluable feature that really makes it worth spending a bit more to get the SGX rangefinders. This gives you a course planner style screen that is basically like an electronic yardage book that is interactive, by moving around the crosshair on the screen you can get a yardage to any point on the hole. This makes it much easier to navigate your way around an unfamiliar course, imagine not only knowing which bunkers are in range but being able to clearly identify all the bunkers on the hole even if you can't see them. Most other rangefinder will say that you are say 200 yards from a water hazard but the distance to the water hazard depends on the line you take so the SGX can tell you exactly how far to carry it on your preferred line.

Skycaddie have also added an upgraded scoring facility which can record all sorts of information and upload it to your own personal golf record online via Club SG. This will even record your driving accuracy and keep on file what side you keep missing the fairway on, analysing this can help to improve your scores.

The Skycaddie SGX has a waterproof soft feel casing that also helps to protect it from any shocks, trolley users should get the cart mount as this keeps the unit close to hand by the controls of your trolley. The screen is a high quality colour LCD that is no problem to view even in the brightest sunlight.

Another feature that is crucial to getting the best out of your Skycaddie is the shot measurement. Simply press the button to mark your location before hitting any shot and when you get to your ball the distance you have just hit is displayed. New users should try and do this as often as possible at first as it will help you learn all your club yardages very quickly. Soon you will know how far all of your clubs go and that will make the accuracy of the information you are given even more important.

The Skycaddie SGX does require a certain amount of connecting it to your computer is order to download the full features of the courses you are playing, this process has become very quick and easy now but Skycaddie do have an excellent UK based technical team to help if you experience any issues.

>Skycaddie SGXw

This latest addition to the Skycaddie family has all the features of the standard Skycaddie SGX but with the added benefit of WiFi access.

This will enable you to download courses on the move simply by connecting wirelessly to any home or public network. Could be very handy for travellers who can download the course map when they arrive at the golf course by using their network. This makes the downloading of the courses to your Skycaddie a much simplified procedure and its considerably quicker to do than the standard SGX.

Skycaddie SGXw owners who are fans of the Club SG will also be able to upload their stats of each round in the same way.

Skycaddie have also added some nice refinements to the SGXw such as a new style multi directional button. This allows you to move the cursor around the screen much easier when using the hole view feature, makes getting a precise distance to a feature on the hole quicker and easier. This new button works by touch just by lightly moving across it with your thumb and it is so simple to operate it takes no time at all to become accustomed to it. They have also introduced yardage arcs to the screen which is a few coloured lines on the screen showing all hazards etc that are 150,200 or 250 yards from where you stand. This is a nice little touch as it means you can at a glance see the hazards that are in range off the tee.

>Skycaddie SG5 (now discontinued)

The Skycaddie SG5 is a great value way of tapping into the features and accuracy that Skycaddie are famous for. It features a full colour screen with large, easy to read display thats water resistant.

The battery is rechargeable much like a mobile phone and can offer up to 14 hours use on a single charge. This battery can be replaced easily in time although our experience is that this has a very long lifespan.

The SG5 features the holevue technology that gives an eagle eyed view of the hole showing all the bunkers and ditches even if not visible from where you are. Whilst this is not interactive like the SGX its still a handy feature for playing new courses. The accuracy of this unit is to within 1 yard thanks to Skycaddies use of high quality components and their ground verified golf course maps.

One feature that is crucial to getting the best out of your Skycaddie is the shot measurement button. Press this to mark your location before hitting any shot and when you get to your ball the distance you have just hit is displayed. Its well worth using as often as possible at first as it will help you learn all your club yardages very quickly. Soon you will know how far all of your clubs go and that will make the accuracy of the information you are given even more helpful.

The SG5 can also show you a list of up to 40 hazards per hole, listing them all with an exact yardage from where you stand. This is crucial when playing a golf course for the first time.

Skycaddie are also the only brand to use intelligreen technology this means that the yardages to the front, middle and back will be taken from where you are standing.  if you are playing from the wrong fairway the side of the green becomes the front from your angle of approach and the other side becomes the back of green.

Subscribing to Skycaddie gives you access to almost 30,000 courses worldwide if you need them and each of them can be simply downloaded to your device when required.
